In this new feature prepared by Paul Taylor (Head of our Appeals Unit and author of leading practitioner textbook Taylor on Criminal Appeals), we present a monthly round up of important new cases coming from the Court of Appeal Criminal Division. The key cases are grouped together by theme, and Paul also includes comments on the CACD’s approach to appeals against conviction, abandonment of an appeal, loss of time directions, A-G References, and seeking an extension of time to appeal. In time we hope this becomes a handy one-stop list for you of key authorities you may wish to consider for all your criminal cases, not just appeals. If you would like to know more about any of these cases, or take advantage of one of the regular training updates we provide to our solicitors around the country, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
